Skin Type I - Dry
Characteristics:
• Oil zone is limited to the nose area
• If oil surfaces at all, it is in the evening
• Follicles are not visible
Common Problems:
• Small blackheads in the nasal area
• Skin has tendency towards deep dehydration
• Wrinkles and lines are the predominant problem
Goals - Rehydrate the tissue to:
• Reduce the appearance of wrinkles and lines
• Combat deep dehydration
• Dissolve small blackheads
Skin Type II - Normal to Dry
Characteristics:
• Oil zone includes the nose to the inside corner of the eyes
• Oil surfaces around 4 pm or 8 hours after cleansing
• Follicles are small
Common Problems:
• Small resistive blackheads and milia are common
in the oil zone
• Skin is surface dehydrated
Goals - Normalize the moisture level in the surface skin cells to:
• Dissolve small resistive blackheads
• Loosen milia for easier removal
• Combat surface dehydration
• Softens lines and wrinkles
Skin Type III - Normal/Combination
Characteristics:
• Oil zone includes the nose to the inside corner of the eyes
• Oil surfaces around 4 pm or 8 hours after cleansing

• Skin is surface dehydrated

Sensitive Skin
Normal skin has a natural protective moisture barrier made up of water and lipids (oil). These lipids play a crucial role in the skin's water-retention ability by acting as a barrier to trap water, prevent water loss and keep irritants out. With sensitive skin, this barrier is often impaired, allowing vital moisture to escape and irritants to penetrate the skin causing stinging, redness and irritation. The skin is more susceptible to reactions from both internal and external factors when the barrier is not functioning properly.
Acne Prone Skin
Acne is a chronic skin disorder and is formed when skin cells inside hair follicles shed too fast and clump together with sebum and bacteria, plugging up the follicle and causing an acne lesion. In order to control acne, we must interrupt the excess shedding of skin cells in the follicles, control the oil and inhibit the growth of bacteria. Benzoyl Peroxide and Salicylic Acid products achieve this goal.
